近日，美中下一代教育基金会（North American Volunteers）Youth Impact Academy 第三期活动成功举行。本期特邀美国热门烹饪节目《MasterChef》第16季选手 Daniel Meng（蒙大年）担任主讲嘉宾，以“从热爱到影响力（From Passion to Impact）”为主题，与青少年、家长和社区人士分享成长经历、追梦故事与人生感悟。
Daniel 毕业于佐治亚理工学院谢勒商学院，因在《MasterChef》全球挑战赛中凭借创意菜品“麻婆豆腐意大利饺子（Mapo Ravioli）”脱颖而出，成功获得象征晋级资格的白色围裙，受到广泛关注。
然而，Daniel 带给大家的启发远不止烹饪本身。
在分享中，他讲述了自己如何平衡学业、职业发展、自媒体创作以及对美食的热爱。他鼓励年轻人勇敢探索兴趣，坚持做真实的自己，并学会将个人热情与文化背景结合，创造属于自己的价值。
作为 Georgia Tech 学生组织 CHEFS at Tech 的创办人，以及美食自媒体品牌 @mengseats 的创始人，Daniel 用自身经历证明：一个兴趣爱好不仅可以成为个人成长的动力，也可以成为连接社区、传播文化和影响他人的平台。
活动中，Daniel 现场演示了传统麻婆豆腐的制作过程。从安全刀工、食材处理到调味技巧和火候掌控，大家不仅学习了实用的烹饪知识，更体会到精益求精、不断练习的重要性。
在随后的问答环节中，Daniel 分享了参加《MasterChef》的幕后故事，包括在高压环境下完成作品、面对评委挑战以及如何保持专注与自信。他的坦诚和幽默赢得了现场阵阵掌声。

自2009年成立以来，NAV 一直致力于培养华裔青少年的领导力、沟通能力、社区服务精神和社会责任感。通过杰出高中生公共服务奖学金、Shine a Light 系列项目、卡耐基青年领导力培训、C-5 夏令营以及 Youth Impact Academy 等活动，帮助年轻人发现潜能、拓展视野、建立自信。
Daniel 的故事再次证明，成功没有固定模式。无论是烹饪、科技、艺术还是公益，每一份热爱都可能成为改变自己、影响他人的力量。这正是 Youth Impact Academy 希望传递给年轻一代的核心理念：发现热爱、发展潜能，并将个人成长转化为积极的社会影响力。
From Passion to Impact: Inspiring the Next Generation
The North America Volunteers (NAV) Youth Impact Academy recently welcomed MasterChef Season 16 contestant Daniel Meng for an inspiring session titled “From Passion to Impact.” Hosted at YiFan Restaurant, the event brought together students, parents, and community members for an afternoon of learning, reflection, and inspiration.
Daniel's journey resonated deeply with the audience. A graduate of Georgia Tech's Scheller College of Business, he gained national attention through his appearance on MasterChef, where his creative fusion dish, Mapo Tofu Ravioli, earned him a coveted white apron during the highly competitive Global Gauntlet challenge.
Yet Daniel's message went far beyond cooking.
He shared how he balanced academics, career aspirations, social media content creation, and his passion for food. Through his experiences, he encouraged young people to pursue their interests with courage, embrace their cultural heritage, and remain authentic while navigating their own paths.
As founder of CHEFS at Tech and creator of the popular food platform @mengseats, Daniel demonstrated how a personal passion can grow into something much larger—building community, sharing culture, and inspiring others.
A highlight of the event was Daniel's live demonstration of traditional Mapo Tofu. While teaching practical cooking skills such as knife safety, ingredient preparation, flavor building, and heat control, he also emphasized a broader lesson: excellence is achieved through continuous learning, practice, and attention to detail.
During an engaging Q&A session, Daniel offered a behind-the-scenes look at MasterChef, discussing the pressure of completing complex dishes under strict time limits and the importance of resilience, confidence, and adaptability. His honesty and humor created a genuine connection with the audience.
One youth participant reflected afterward:
"My kitchen is quiet and personal, while Daniel's kitchen is vibrant and connected to the world. This experience showed me that the same passion can lead to many different and meaningful paths."
That reflection captures the heart of Youth Impact Academy.
Since 2009, NAV has been committed to helping Chinese-American youth develop leadership, communication skills, community engagement, and self-confidence through programs such as the Prominent High School Student Public Service Scholarship, Shine a Light competitions, Carnegie Youth Leadership Training, C-5 Youth Summer Camp, and Youth Impact Academy.
At NAV, we believe every young person has unique potential. Sometimes all it takes is a role model, a conversation, or an inspiring story to help unlock it.
Daniel Meng's visit reminded us that success does not follow a single path. Whether through cooking, entrepreneurship, technology, service, or the arts, young people can transform their passions into positive impact.
